MS Obstetrics & Gynaecology is a 3-year post-graduation medical course and is commonly known as MS-OBG, MS OB&G or MS OB/GYN, it is a medical speciality in which two specialities Obstetrics and Gynaecology are combined and taught in a single postgraduate training programme. this training programme prepares a clinical awareness in participating obstetrician-gynaecologist about female healthcare problems. Obstetrics cover care during pre-conception, pregnancy, childbirth, and immediately after delivery of a child, while Gynaecology covers female health-related issues.
MS OBG program is designed in such a way that practising students will gain sufficient knowledge of clinical awareness, procedural skills, and attitudes that will enable to manage pregnancy and its complications, they will get sufficient clinical training to manage disorders that affect the genital tract of women, and human reproduction problems.MS – Obstetrics & Gynaecology course is available in various governments and private medical colleges in India, the students get entry into the course by competing in the national level exam, NEET PG is conducted by NBE. Applicants with an MBBS degree from a recognized institute who have permanently registered with India’s Medical Council or any other State Medical Council are eligible for this course.
MS Obstetrics & Gynaecology is a 3 years Prost Graduation Course in which obstetrics and gynaecology Postgraduate training programs are usually combined, preparing the practising obstetrician-gynaecologist to be skilled both in the treatment of the wellbeing of female reproductive organs and in the management of childbirth, although many physicians continue to develop subspecialty preferences in one area or the other.
To apply for this course an applicant should have completed his/her MBBS degree along with 1 year rotational internship and he/she has to have permanent or provisional registration from MCI, a student whose internship is ongoing can also participate the internship but the internship should be completed before the commencement of the academic year i.e. 31st march.
To secure MS OBG seat the applicant has to appear for NEET PG Medical exam and has to qualify NEET-PG with required cutoff percentile of 50th percentile for general and 40th percentile for SC, ST and OBC. To get admission in MS Obstetrics & Gynaecology course the applicant has to qualify the NEET PG exam with good NEET Score since this course is chosen by a good number of students every year so NEET-PG cut-off for MS OBG is generally very high for top private medical colleges and government medical colleges. After qualifying NEET-PG exam the aspirants have to go through NEET PG counselling conducted by State DME for state quota seats and MCC for All India quota seats. , the NEET-PG cutoff for MS OB&G is average for some Deemed universities and private medical colleges, there are multiple quota applicable to these medical institutions like All India Quota seats, Management quota seats, Institutional quota seats and NRI quota seats, etc During NEET-PG Counselling, a student has to apply under suitable quota and chose a suitable medical college.
MS OBS/GYN course is available in 149 Government Medical Colleges in India, there are a total of 1695 MS-OBG seats in government medical colleges in India.
